How to exclude Russian sites from Google and YouTube searches?

Now this question is more relevant than ever. More and more Ukrainians prefer Ukrainian-language content and most do not want to see Russian sites on Google and videos on YouTube in the search results.

The elimination process is quite lengthy, but possible. You must strictly follow all the instructions, and over time, Google will analyze your search queries, “see” what sites you visit and further rebuild their system for you.

In order for the Google site search to return only the desired content, you must follow certain instructions:

 

- register or sign in to Google;

- enter the browser settings and click on "Additional", and after "Languages";

- exclude the Russian language from the specified list and add Ukrainian (if it is not already in the list);

- log in to your Google account, and then go to the section "Personal information" - "General web service settings" - "Language". here you can set the Ukrainian language for the browser itself;

- deactivate the auto addition of languages, since Google, based on algorithms, calculates that you speak Russian and can automatically show you sites with the ru domain and others;

- inside the browser, you must delete the old cache and cookies, as well as the search history.

 

How to clear cache and cookies:

 

- go to "Settings" - "Other tools" - "Clear web browsing data";

- select a time range or click "All time";

- select "Cookies and other data from sites" and "Cached images and files", and then "Clear data".

 

In the future, we advise you to pay attention to the tips that the Google search engine gives out, because thanks to them, the platform creates a search already in Russian, thereby affecting the content issuance.

Please note that next to the search bar you have the “Tools” field, with the help of which you have the opportunity to independently select the desired language for issuance, and thanks to such tricks you will be able to influence Google and thereby achieve exclusively Ukrainian-language content.

 

Important!

When adding “-i” to the search query, Russian-language google sites will not appear, even though they may be Ukrainian. The thing is that when you enter these characters, the search engine filters out the search results, excluding all search results with the "and" link, which is only in Russian-language content.

If you want to remove the Google search on the site with Russian content, and leave the Ukrainian material, but in Russian - when entering with a given query, write "-ru". In this case, Google will cut off websites with the desired domain.

Using the Chrome browser, download the plugin "Lagіdna ukrainіzatsіya" to your device, thereby it will help you increase the part of the Ukrainian language on such platforms: Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and Wikipedia.

YouTube is not only a service for storing video content, it is a kind of search engine that occupies an important position among world systems.

If everything is clear with Google and we have found a way to exclude Russian sites from the search, then with the YouTube service the situation is different. Due to the fact that this platform does not have any language settings, and even when writing in the search in Ukrainian, the results will be not only with Ukrainian content, but also in Russian.
It's all about YouTube's complex rules, because they clearly show that you most often request information in Russian, and as we know, at the moment, there is much more Russian-language content.

But even with all the difficulties, there are a couple of ways that will make a difference in the results of the YouTube search engine.

- unsubscribe from Russian-language content;

- delete all requests from the browser history and search on the YouTube service that were entered in Russian;

- each time when Russian content appears in the feed of the search result or recommendations on YouTube, click "Not interested in the channel."

 

Using this method, you will “inspire” the YouTube algorithm that you are not interested in Russian content and over time it will stop producing videos in a foreign language.
